99,5 can I ask where are you going to sleep? Don't worry, I don't want to be one of a treesome, but perhaps I'm going to decide not to stay with some friends of mine in their home as I thought... I may be interested on searching for a not-expensive place where I can sleep. I know you and MG talked between you about this, but I forgot. Can you suggest me some solutions?

Dear Marcos, Cient or 99,5 has no intention to reveal you where he's going to sleep.... He must be jealous!

98,73 (you're scrumbling... I hope you will remain at least 70/100...) You are right if you are jealous, because I'm very handsome...:-)) However, thank you for helping, but probably I'll get myself be "ospitato" by some friends of mine as previously planned How to translate "ospitato"? welcomed?
Da: MarcoS | 15/02/2007 17:48:17 |
I think I ought to have written I'll get myself welcomed (??) without "be". What about some grammar suggestions? Won't we have ourselves improving anymore?
Da: 100% | 15/02/2007 18:36:25 |
hi MarcoS: ospite = guest â£â£
Da: MarcoS | 15/02/2007 21:17:54 |
thank you 97,13 | |
Da: Laura | 15/02/2007 22:15:12 |
I'd write simply: "I will stay with some friends of mine" (checked on the dictionary... I have to confess). and "Don't we have to improve our English anymore?" The last sentence hasn't been checked... so don't trust me! Cient, how did you obtained the flowers? which is the trick?
Da: MarcoS | 16/02/2007 12:01:48 |
Dear Laura, I was trying to apply new rules: get can actually be used in order to translate "avere", when it means something like "farsi fare" (I get my car washed). I tryed a passive form of that ("mi farΓ² ospitare"), but I believe it doesn't work at all...:-(( "Won't we have ourselves improving" is right, I believe I want you to know = voglio che tu sappia I will (would) have you knowing = see above We will have ourselves improving = vogliamo migliorare Don't trust it, but I think it could work Talk to you soon

Thank you Marcos, I ignored the form will have + verbo in ing. But, in the composition I will avoid new experiment. In my opinion a plain English is enough to pass the examination and using new rules we risk to commit more mistakes...

"Greenhouse effect", I think. PS: my last sentences are full of mistakes and the time for improving is expiring....

I'm studying many hours each day in order to get through it; but it is very difficult to struggle through so much material within such a short time; furthermore, as I well know I am not very quick in learning foreign languages. Above all I am worried about the rights (private rights, administrative right, european right etc.) Nevertheless, I think positive and I'm quite optimistic :) I will anyway gain from this experience, from this challenge. Laura, how about you?
Da: Laura | 16/02/2007 22:19:40 |
I'm studyng many hours too, but I'm not finding the attention's degree I'd like to have. I haven't been studying "full time" for many years. I thought I would have reached better results... I'm not optimistc at all but I still believe in luck! But I've and advantage..... my problems are equally shared among the three proofs.. :)

The greenhouse effect is a naturally occurring process that aids in heating the Earth's surface and atmosphere. It results from the fact that certain atmospheric gases, such as carbon dioxide, water vapor, and methane, are able to change the energy balance of the planet by absorbing longwave radiation emitted from the Earth's surface. Without the greenhouse effect life on this planet would probably not exist as the average temperature of the Earth would be a chilly -18Β° Celsius, rather than the present 15Β° Celsius. As energy from the sun passes through the atmosphere a number of things take place (see Figure 7h-1). A portion of the energy (26 % globally) is reflected or scattered back to space by clouds and other atmospheric particles. About 19 % of the energy available is absorbed by clouds, gases (like ozone), and particles in the atmosphere. Of the remaining 55 % of the solar energy passing through the Earth's atmosphere, 4 % is reflected from the surface back to space. On average, about 51 % of the sun's radiation reaches the surface. This energy is then used in a number of processes, including the heating of the ground surface; the melting of ice and snow and the evaporation of water; and plant photosynthesis.

please....a simple question!!! Do u know if that competition will be pubblished in the 2007????? thnx
Da: Angoscia Fugace | 17/02/2007 17:24:24 |
I do not believe it, because the latter was published on 1998; so the next would be published about 2012-2013.

Angoscia, pay attention: "the latter" means "il secondo" (Dante and Shakespeare was two great poets, the first was Italian, the latter was English), whereas "ultimo" has to be translated into English by "last" (Last action hero). You must drop the article near "next" when using this word in order to translate "il prossimo" "il piΓΉ vicino (temporalmente)": next summer, next competition and so on.
